How to Know When It’s Time for New Tires

Your tires are one of the most critical safety components on your vehicle. Unfortunately, they don’t last forever. As they wear down, they lose traction, increase stopping distance, and raise your risk in wet or icy conditions. So how can you tell when it’s time to replace them?

Start by checking the tread depth. Most tires come with built-in wear bars, but you can also use a simple penny test: insert a penny into the tread with Lincoln’s head down. If you can see the top of his head, your tread is too low. Uneven wear can also signal issues with alignment or suspension. Cracks in the sidewall, bulges, or consistent vibrations while driving are other warning signs.
